Recession Blues

Turn the car key
Engine light comes on
Take a look in my account
But the money is all gone
Microwave shuts off
In the middle of a meal
I've got holes in my pockets
And broke is how I feel
Counting out my pennies
Milk and bread is what I need
Ten bucks is all I've got
For these kids, I've got to feed
Bill collector's calling
He wants his fair share
I can't send a check
I don't even dare
Boys are out growing
All of their clothes
What are we going to do
Only God knows
Dog's out of food
And it's only the 12th
Pulling out my hair
Someone, Please share the wealth
Got to see a dentist
And that's not good news
All of us are singing
The recession blues
