Exodus 9: 29 tells us that the earth belongs to the Lord, and Acts 14: 15 tells us that God made heaven and earth and the sea and everything in them. In Acts 17: 24, Paul says, "The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth." It's pretty plain, the earth is Gods The earth consists of the land and the sea.
Satan is the prince of this world. 1 John says that , "The whole world is under the control of the evil one." The world consists of everything on the earth. And that is why Ephesians 6: 12 tells us that "Our struggle is not against the rulers against the authorities against the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Satan is at work in this world.
To love the world, not the earth, but the world is to go against God. In James, the Bible says, "Don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who choses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." That is, if you love TV, or radio, clothes or food, you love the world. We have to live in the world and use these things but we should not love them. What we should love is other people.
But God gave us a way out. He gave us Jesus who has authority on the earth to forgive sins, as it states in Luke 5: 24 and Matthew 28: 18. In John 8:12 it says, "Jesus is the light of the world." Which is a good thing because Satan brings darkness to the world.
Jesus didn't come to judge the world but to save it, John 12: 47. And it is the saints that will do the judging as it says in 1 Corinthians 6: 2. It is also the saints that God is using to do his work on the earth, Matthew 18: 18 says, "I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven,"
The earth belongs to God, but he has given leadership of the world to Satan, for a time. The devil is darkness and he rules the world with darkness. Jesus was sent to be a light to the world and He uses us, the saints to bring light to the world. We are given authority by Jesus to do Gods work.
