Those Sinful Acts

     Romans 8:8, "Those controlled by the sinful nature connot please God."
     We should not be living according to the sinful nature, as Romans 8:4 says, we should be living according to the Spirit.  If we do have the Holy Spirit of God living in us we will have the good fruit, and that fruit is goodness, kindness, self control, gentleness, peace, love and joy.  Now that we know the good things that we should be looking for in ourselves, we should also look for the acts of the sinful nature in our personality.  The reason to look for these things is to get rid of them.  To know what to pray for help with.
     Galations 5:19, lays out what to look for, "The acts of the sinful nature are obvious; sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery, Idolatry and witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy, drunkenness, orgies and the like."
     I will define these things so that you can fully understand them;

Sexual immorality:  Not in conformity with accepted principals of right and wrong behavior, not moral.  Esp.  lewd, obscene

Impurity:  unclean; dirty.  Immoral; obscene.

Debauchery:  extreme indulgence of one's appetite.

Idolatry:  worship of idols.  Excessive devotion to or reverence for some person or thing.

Witchcraft:  the power or practices of witches; sorcery.

Hatred:  strong dislike or ill will; hate.

Discord:  disagreement.  A harsh or confused noise.

Jealousy:  resentfully suspicious, as of a rival.  Resentfully envious.

Fits of rage:  a furious uncontrolled anger.  To show violent anger in action or speech.  To be forceful violent etc...

Selfish ambition:  having such regard for one's own interests and advantage that the welfare of others becomes of less concern that is considered just.

Dissensions:  To disagree; think differently.  To refuse to accept the doctrines and forms of an established church.

Factions:  dissensions; partisan conflict within an organization or state.

Envy:  A feeling of discontent and ill will because of another's advantages possessions etc..

Drunkenness:  intoxicated or habitually intoxicated.

Orgies:  an overindulgence in any activity.
