Hold On

My husband Mark, says a lot of good stuff.  The other day he was talking to his Mom, about his daughter, Melody.  I really thought that the Holy Spirit was talking through him.
Mark's Mother, Mary, has been running out to help Melody, every time she calls her.  Mary feels like Melody isn't appreciative of all the time and money that Mary has given her.  So Mark told Mary, "Leave Melody alone and let God work on her."  But Mary felt a need to go out and always save Melody.  The thing that Mary was feeling was fear, and she didn't feel like it was coming from God.  She actually felt like God was against her helping so much.
Mark said, "Mom, it's like Melody is in the ocean, drowning.  She stays up a bit by herself and then just as she goes under, you or I reach down and pull her up.  But we can only pull her up enough for her to catch her breath, and then she is right back where she was before.  The next time Melody is ready to go under, we have to have faith in God.  And when Melody reaches out for help, she will have to reach up and grab  a hold of Jesus, he is the only one that can really save her."
We may not understand God's ways, but we have to know that His ways are always going to be the best ways.  Mary just has to surrender her will and trust Him, and not mess up Gods good work.
Mark also gave the example of the prodigal son in Luke 15.  He said, "Mom, the father of the prodigal son didn't run after him or chase him down with help.  He just left him alone and let him do what he wanted in the world.  The son came back to the father, humble and broken.  He asked the father to please take him back and he would even be lowest in the house.  And then the father welcomed the son home.  That is what needs to happen to Melody.  She needs to get so tired of the world and the world needs to break her spirit. "In psalm 51: 17, it says that God will not despise a broken and contrite heart.

Today Melody is a work in progress.  She loves the Lord and lives a life with Jesus in it.
